In this Article, the vibration analysis of a beam is studied by considering one or two pairs of piezoelectric patches. Piezoelectric layers are used to damp the vibrations of the beam. In general, in this research, the basic principles governing piezoelectric materials are first described and the free and forced vibration analysis of a beam with one and two pairs of piezoelectric patches is discussed. First, the beam model is modeled in the Abaqus software environment and its independence from the vibration solution network is examined. Then, the natural frequencies of the beam model are compared with the analytical results of the beam frequencies, thereby verifying the accuracy of the analysis. In the following, the free and forced vibration response of the beam is compared for three cases: the beam alone, the beam with one pair of piezo patches, and the beam with two pairs of piezo patches. The results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the piezoelectric beam in reducing the vibrations of the beam and converting the vibrational energy into electrical energy in it.
