چکیده مقاله:
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of HIRT training combined with beta-alanine supplementation on purine and carnosine indices in female athletes.Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design, ۴۰ female athletes (mean age ۲۳.۵۷ ± ۱.۸۲ years, mean weight ۵۸.۱۵ ± ۲.۴۰ kg, height ۱.۶۰ ± ۰.۰۲ m, fat mass ۲۳.۳۹ ± ۰.۶۰%, muscle mass ۲۳.۱۵ ± ۰.۸۵ kg) participated and were then randomly divided into ۴ groups: exercise + supplement, exercise + placebo, supplement, and control. High-intensity resistance training was performed three times a week, each session lasting ۶۰ minutes at an intensity of ۸۰ to ۸۵% of one repetition maximum in a circuit with ۶ to ۸ repetitions and ۳۰-۶۰ seconds of rest between each movement and ۱۲۰ seconds of rest between each round of the circuit. The groups receiving the supplement received ۶ grams of beta-alanine in powder form daily. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc test.Findings: The results showed that after eight weeks of HIRT training with beta-alanine supplementation, hypoxanthine levels significantly decreased (P<۰.۰۰۱), while hypoguanine phosphoribosyl levels significantly increased (P<۰.۰۰۱). Also, serum carnosine levels were significantly increased (P<۰.۰۰۱).Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that high-intensity resistance training and beta-alanine supplementation improve the purine cycle and carnosine buffering factor in female athletes.
