چکیده مقاله:
Background: Radiological contamination poses a significant threat to human health, particularly in the aftermath of nuclear accidents or radiological incidents. Effective and immediate decontamination is critical to reducing radiation exposure, preventing secondary contamination, and minimizing long-term health risks. Traditional decontamination methods, such as washing with water or chemical treatments, are widely practiced but may not always be sufficient or practical in emergency scenarios. Industrial vacuum cleaners equipped with advanced filtration systems, including HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) and ULPA (Ultra-Low Penetration Air) filters, have emerged as a promising non-invasive alternative for radiological decontamination. Materials and Methods: This article investigates the technical aspects of using vacuum cleaners for radiological decontamination of casualties, focusing on filter technology, operational protocols, and the challenges associated with treating contaminated wounds. A structured methodology was employed to evaluate the performance of HEPA and ULPA filters in removing radioactive particles and to develop a step-by-step protocol for their application in emergency settings. Results: The findings suggest that vacuum-based decontamination can significantly reduce contamination levels while minimizing tissue damage and secondary exposure risks. However, challenges such as equipment maintenance, operator training, and the psychological impact on casualties require further attention. Conclusion: This study highlights the potential of integrating vacuum cleaner technology into emergency response plans and provides recommendations for future research and protocol standardization.
