چکیده مقاله:

Background: Academic burnout (AB) is a critical issue affecting university students in medical sciences majors, especially in high-pressure fields like Healthcare Services Management (HSM). This issue not only hinders students' academic success but also affects their potential effectiveness as future policymakers and managers within the healthcare system. This study investigates the prevalence of AB among HSM at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS), exploring the factors contributing to this phenomenon. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, students from the HSM program at SUMS participated by completing a ۲۲-item questionnaire, which included ۶ demographic questions and ۱۵ items from the Maslach et al. burnout questionnaire. The census method was used for data collection, which was subsequently analyzed using SPSS software (version ۲۶). Additionally, the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests were employed for the bivariate analysis, with a significance level set at P-value < ۰.۰۵. Results: Overall, ۱۱۸ HSM students, with a mean age of ۲۲.۵۶ _x۰۰۰۰_۹b۳.۶۶ years, participated in this study. The ratio of undergraduates to postgraduates was ۱.۶۳, and only a negligible number were employed. The students exhibited a moderate level of AB. Additionally, factors including employment status, being local to the university location, and the year of enrollment were significantly associated with the total mean score of AB. Conclusion: The results underscore the necessity for educational policymakers to implement targeted interventions aimed at fostering a supportive learning environment to enhance student well-being and academic performance.
