چکیده مقاله:
Background: Patient privacy is a fundamental human right that ensures dignity and trust between healthcare providers and patients. With advancements in mobile-based education, innovative training methods offer opportunities to enhance knowledge, attitude, and performance among healthcare staff. This study examines the impact of virtual education on patient privacy principles among operating room staff at Iran University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on ۱۲۵ operating room staff at Iran University of Medical Sciences in ۲۰۲۰. A stratified sampling method with proportional allocation was used. Data were collected through a demographic information form and researcher-designed questionnaires on knowledge and attitude, as well as a checklist for evaluating operating room staff performance. The performance of the participants was observed and recorded by the researcher using the checklist before the training. The principles of patient privacy were then taught over four sessions using a mobile phone. Two weeks after the final session, a post-test was conducted, and the results were compared with the pre-test. The ANOVA test was used to analyze the data. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Iran University of Medical Sciences (IR.IUMS.REC/۱۳۹۸.۱۳۳۳). Results: The results of the study showed that virtual training on patient privacy principles significantly increased awareness (from ۱۷.۴۰±۶.۳۸ to ۲۹.۱۴±۳.۳۱), attitude (from ۳۵.۶۳±۴.۶۸ to ۳۷.۵۹±۳.۳۸), and performance (from ۹.۵۹±۲.۱۸ to ۱۱.۱۴±۱.۸۹) of operating room staff. The average scores for awareness, attitude, and performance significantly increased (P<۰.۰۰۱). Conclusion: Given the improvement in awareness, attitude, and performance among operating room staff, it is recommended that a mobile-based training method for patient privacy principles be implemented for operating room staff.
