چکیده مقاله:
Varicocele is a common medical condition. In this condition, oxidative damage to the testicle occurs due to hypoxia and excessive production of free radicals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant function of magnesium oxide nanoparticles mediated by aloe vera extract on testosterone levels and oxidative stress in male rats affected by experimental varicocele. The antioxidant activity of these particles was investigated by the DPPH method. A total of ۳۰ male rats were randomly divided into ۵ equal groups including: surgical control (placebo), varicocele control (rats in this group underwent unilateral varicocele induction via renal vein ligation) and ۳ experimental varicocele groups (animals in these groups, in addition to varicocele induction, received magnesium oxide nanoparticles at doses of ۱.۲۵, ۲.۵ and ۵ mg/kg body weight, respectively, for ۶ weeks via gavage). Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. The results of this study showed that the free radical scavenging power of the synthesized nanoparticles was greater than that of the ascorbic acid standard. Administration of these nanoparticles to rats with varicocele resulted in a significant decrease in the enzyme malondialdehyde and a significant increase in superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase. It also significantly increased testosterone levels (P≤۰.۰۰۱). In summary, it is likely that magnesium oxide nanoparticles, due to their antioxidant activity, can reduce the destructive effects of varicocele and be effective in its treatment by reducing the effects of oxidative stress during varicocele.Varicocele is a common medical condition.
