Motivation plays a fundamental role in successful language learning, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms where learners often struggle with engagement and persistence. In recent years, gamification has emerged as an innovative pedagogical approach that integrates game elements such as points, badges, leaderboards, challenges, and rewards into educational contexts. This extended abstract examines the role of gamification in enhancing learner motivation in English language classrooms. The study explores how game-based mechanisms can influence students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, increase participation, and create a more dynamic and learner-centered environment. By incorporating elements commonly found in digital and traditional games, educators can transform routine classroom activities into interactive experiences that stimulate curiosity and competition.
