چکیده مقاله:

Urban sustainable development faces complex challenges from rapid urbanization, energy consumption, and climate stress. Vernacular architecture, rooted in local environmental adaptation and cultural identity, offers effective frameworks for sustainability. This study provides a comparative analysis of Iran's vernacular architecture across four climatic zones arid, semi-arid, temperate, and humid to identify its relevance for modern sustainable urbanism. Through integrated methods combining remote sensing, and morphological assessment, the paper demonstrates how traditional Iranian architectural forms optimize thermal performance, reduce carbon footprint, and promote social cohesion. The findings emphasize the need for integrating technological innovation with cultural wisdom to shape resilient, inclusive, and ecologically responsible urban futures.
