In this paper, a system-level method to tackle power analysis attacks has been proposed for AES-based encryption system. The proposed method tries to mask the power consumption of the system by unfastening the consumed power and the processed data in the systems. This is done using runtime variations in addresses issued to access memory for each round of the AES algorithm. To evaluate the proposed method, redundant codes are added to AES algorithm; then the target system is attacked by several power attacks to evaluate security enhancement. The proposed method has been also compared with three other application level methods in term of code size, AES response time, and signal to noise ratio. Results show that the proposed method has the best score in time overhead. Also, an analytical evaluation is proposed in the paper to model effects of the proposed method on the power consumption of a crypto-system
