A positive trend towards industrialization of construction

In recent years, there was a positive trend towards using the new methods of construction, called industrialization or off-site construction, including pre-assembly, panelized, modular, etc. This paper has two parts. The first part introduces different off-site construction methods. Due to the importance of a comprehensive understanding of both the positive and negative sides of any new construction method, key advantages and disadvantages of off-site construction in comparison to the conventional construction are investigated in the second part. Literature shows that the benefits of implementing off-site methods outweigh the challenges. Findings of this study can help the construction industry to consider new construction methods as effective alternatives to current traditional construction ones
