چکیده مقاله:

Background: Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a neoplasm with a wide range of histologic, biologic, and clinical subtypes. In this case report, a third eyelid tumor in a Holstein cow was examined and characterized.Ocular squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)The mass was surgically excised and submitted for histopathologic and immunohistochemical evaluation. Methods: Routine histological and immunohistochemical(IHC) methods were performed to confirm the tumor type and differentiate it from other epithelial neoplasms. The immunohistochemical markers evaluated were CK۵/۶, Ki-۶۷, and p۵۳. Results: CK۵/۶:Strong and diffuse cytoplasmic positivity was observed in more than ۶۰% of neoplastic cells, confirming squamous epithelial origin and supporting the diagnosis of SCC. Ki-۶۷:Nuclear positivity was detected in less than ۱% of tumor cells, indicating a very low proliferative index consistent with a low-grade neoplasm. p۵۳:Nuclear staining was present in approximately ۲–۳% of neoplastic cells, with weak to moderate intensity. The absence of diffuse or complete loss patterns indicates a wild-type expression pattern, suggesting the p۵۳ gene is intact and non-mutated. Conclusion: Based on histopathology and immunohistochemistry, the lesion was diagnosed as a low-grade, well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the third eyelid. The IHC profile (CK۵/۶+, Ki-۶۷ <۱%, wild-type p۵۳) reflects indolent biological behavior and limited proliferative capacity. Surgical excision is considered the treatment of choice.
