چکیده مقاله:

Background: Perivascular tumors are nonendothelial vascular tumors that develop from cells supporting blood vessels. They include glomus tumors, hemangiopericytomas, and solitary fibrous tumors, which can sometimes be mistaken for other mesenchymal proliferations. Glomus tumors consist of epithelioid smooth muscle cells. The occurrence of this tumor in veterinary medicine is rare. Canine mammary tumors (CMTs) are common in intact female dogs. The simultaneous presence of a glomus tumor in an unusual anatomical location, along with a mammary mixed tumor, is a rare diagnostic finding in veterinary oncology. Methods: A ۷-year-old intact female Husky was referred with two masses. One pedunculated mass measuring ۷×۴×۳ cm was located in the left caudal abdominal mammary gland, and another large, non-pedunculated mass measuring ۲۵×۱۵×۱۰ cm was found in the left inguinal region, causing lameness. Thoracic radiographs showed no evidence of metastasis. Treatment involved a left caudal unilateral mastectomy and excision of the inguinal mass, both with ۲ cm surgical margins. Resected tissues were submitted for histopathological examination. Results: Histopathology confirmed the mammary mass as a benign mixed mammary tumor and the inguinal mass as a glomus tumor according to a haemangiopericytomatous vascular pattern. The surgical outcome was successful, with complete excision of both neoplasms. During the six-month follow-up, there was no evidence of local tumor recurrence, and the dog exhibited complete clinical recovery. Conclusion: This case highlights that glomus tumors, although rare, can occur at atypical sites in dogs and should be included in the differential diagnosis of subcutaneous masses. The concurrent occurrence with a mammary tumor, though likely coincidental, represents a rare and noteworthy diagnostic insight. Complete surgical excision was a curative treatment for both tumors in this patient.
