چکیده مقاله:

Background: The leader of the cestodes is Taeniarhynchus saginata or Taenia saginata. This zoonosis is called "pumpkin worm" in Persian and "cow tapeworm" in English. The intermediate host is the cow, where the neonatal stage of Cysticercus bovis resides in striated muscles, and its definitive host is exclusively humans, hence the adult stage develops in the intestine. This survey was conducted with the aim of detecting contamination in order to submit an annual report to the Veterinary Control Department of Qazvin Province, as well as its public health importance. Infection with this zoonotic cestode occurs in various regions of Iran, especially in the north of the country. Method: Daily routine inspection was performed by observing and cutting the deltoid muscle, cutting the external oblique muscle on the hook at the fourth station of the slaughter chain, and inspecting the heart at the fifth station or emptying the intestines onto a tray with a longitudinal cut of the septum at both Ziaran and Dashte Bareh slaughterhouses in Qazvin province by meat health inspectors. According to the standard American and European method, a ۲.۳ mm incision was made of the internal oblique muscles, esophagus, intercostals, diaphragm, and tongue. Fertile, degenerated, and calcified metacestodes were observed on the carcass and were separated for the sanitation process. Treatment of livestock with antiparasitic drugs causes the formation of degenerate and calcareous cysts, which are not recorded in annual statistics due to their low zoonotic importance. Results: The recent study was conducted from April to March ۱۴۰۳, during a daily inspection in the form of an annual statistical report. Of the ۳۶۶ cattle examined in both slaughterhouses, a total of ۲۱ carcasses (۵.۷%) had fertile metacestodes in the deltoid muscle, ۷ in the external Master (۱.۹%), ۹ in the heart (۲.۴%), and ۶ in the internal Master (۱.۶%), but no fertile metacestodes were isolated in the intercostal muscles, esophagus, and diaphragm. The accuracy of the American and European standard methods compared to the common inspection method in Iran was statistically significant in both slaughterhouses in Qazvin province (P<۰.۰۵). Conclusion: Conventional slaughterhouse inspection in Iran using the eye-knife method routinely detects Cysticercus bovis in slaughterhouses, but today, standard methods in developed countries show a high level of contamination and human infection with this cestode, which is of great importance in terms of personal and public health.
