چکیده مقاله:

Background: The lethal immune-mediated disease known as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is caused by a mutant feline coronavirus (FCoV). Until recently, no treatment was considered standard or approved for that condition. The purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy of current and emerging therapies for FIP. Methods: To locate papers that were published between January ۲۰۱۷ and September ۲۰۲۵, a comprehensive search was carried out in the databases of PubMed, Scopus, etc. The terms "Feline Infectious Peritonitis treatment," "GS-۴۴۱۵۲۴," and "Remdesivir" were examples of the keywords that were investigated. Studies evaluating antiviral medications in cats with FIP were considered for inclusion if they met the requirements of clinical trials, serial case reports, and observational studies. Results: The results showed that out of the ۲۰۳ papers identified, only ۱۱ research papers met the inclusion criteria. An examination of the data revealed that nucleoside analogs, in particular GS-۴۴۱۵۲۴ and its prodrug, remdesivir, have brought about a revolutionary change in the treatment of FIP. Remission has been recorded in a certain number of cases after therapy intervention has been discontinued. In several studies, the medication EIDD-۲۸۰۱ (Molnupiravir) has also demonstrated potential efficacy. Although some side effects were noticed, such as pain at the injection site and temporary increases in liver enzymes, the safety of these medications was generally regarded to be satisfactory. Corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, which are the foundation of traditional treatments, serve only a supporting and palliative purpose of therapy. Conclusion: Based on the currently available information, nucleoside analogs such as GS-۴۴۱۵۲۴ and remdesivir appear to be the most effective therapeutic options for FIP at present. Nucleoside analogs have improved the prognosis of this disease. However, to definitively confirm the long-term efficacy and safety of these treatments, additional controlled studies with larger sample sizes are needed.
