چکیده مقاله:

Background: Feline ureterolithiasis is an uncommon yet clinically significant disease that can lead to obstructive uropathy, azotemia, and renal damage. Persian cats are predisposed due to their metabolic and anatomical characteristics. Prompt diagnosis and surgical treatment are required to prevent permanent renal damage. Methods: A ۳-year-old female Persian cat was presented with hematuria, dysuria, halitosis, and anorexia. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine were elevated on laboratory examination. Radiography confirmed the diagnosis of a ureteral stone and another cystolith. Ureterolithotomy and cystotomy were done under general anesthesia in the patient. Results: The procedure was performed through ventral midline incision. The stones from the bladder and ureter were successfully removed. The incision of the ureter and bladder was closed by single interrupted and double-pattern with PDS suture, respectively. Postoperative management included fluid therapy, cefazolin, metronidazole, and oral co-amoxiclav. Serum creatinine and urea normalized in two days. The cat recovered uneventfully without any complications. Conclusion: This case demonstrates the successful surgical management of concurrent ureterolith and cystolith in a Persian cat. Early diagnosis, meticulous surgical technique, and postoperative care are critical for favorable outcomes.
