چکیده مقاله:

Background: Salivary gland tumors are rare tumor in dogs that compromised both benign and malignant. Most salivary gland form in dogs are malignant that adenocarcinoma being the most frequently diagnosed subtype. This tumor occurred in older dogs with average age ۱۰ years old. Pleomorphic salivary glands adenoma is rare and slow-growing tumor and mostly reported in parotid glands. Surgical excision is usually curative treatment. This study describes a ۱۲-years-old male Pomeranian that was referred to veterinary hospital with submandibular mass history. Methods: Physical examination showed a painful ۲cm mass palpated in the submandibular region. In sonographic evaluation a heterogenous mass featuring a hypoechoic margin with mineralization in center area were seen. This case managed surgically and the mass was removed and submitted for histopathological examination. Results: Histopathologic evaluation showed well-circumscribed, partially encapsulated neoplasm composed of a mixture of epithelial and myoepithelial cells arranged in solid nests, cords, and duct-like structures within a myxoid stroma. Cellular pleomorphism was mild. Mitotic figures were rare and no evidence of vascular or capsular invasion was observed. Based on histopathological finding pleomorphic adenoma of salivary glands were confirmed. Conclusion: The primary majority of this report is to describe accurate diagnostic of salivary gland adenoma base on microscopic examination and highlight differentiation from inflammatory mass and malignant salivary gland tumor like adenocarcinoma. Accurate diagnosis is critically important as determine therapeutic management. Main diagnosis is based on histopathology. Complete excisions were curative therapy. Periodic monitoring every six month after surgery is recommended.
