چکیده مقاله:

Background: Chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) is one of the most significant viral diseases affecting the poultry industry, leading to immunosuppression, reduced growth, and increased susceptibility to secondary infections. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of CIAV and its effects on certain blood parameters in broiler chicken populations in Kerman province. Methods: For this purpose, ۲۰۰ apparently healthy broilers were sampled at a slaughterhouse. Liver and spleen tissues were collected for DNA extraction and PCR testing. Blood samples were also taken to evaluate hematological indices and to prepare blood smears. In this study, three viral genes, VP۱, VP۲ and VP۳ were molecularly tracked in target cells of chicken in. Samples in which at least one of the aforementioned genes was identified were considered positive for CIAV. Results: The results showed that ۸۵% were positive for CIAV. Hematology results showed that in CIA-positive samples, the hematocrit was lower than in virus-negative samples, but the number of lymphocytes was higher. Other blood parameters did not show significant changes. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that the prevalence of CIAV in the Kerman region is high and could be subclinical associated with a decrease in hematocrit. As CIAV control is essential for optimizing poultry production, regular monitoring, genotypic identification of predominant strains, and targeted vaccination in breeder flocks are recommended.
