چکیده مقاله:

Rapid global urbanization and industrialization have exacerbated challenges in wastewater management, necessitating a paradigm shift from a conventional "treat-and-discharge" model to a circular economy approach focused on resource recovery. This paper provides a descriptive-analytical evaluation of advanced technologies for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, examining their efficacy in pollutant removal, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Advanced municipal treatment now employs technologies like Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs) and advanced filtration (RO, NF), which produce high-quality effluent but are often energy-intensive. For complex industrial effluents, specialized methods like Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems are crucial for managing persistent pollutants and recovering valuable resources. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), nanotechnology, and decentralized systems is poised to revolutionize the field. These emerging technologies promise to optimize operations in real-time, enhance contaminant removal at the molecular level, and reduce infrastructure costs. Ultimately, this comprehensive analysis highlights a transition toward smarter, more sustainable, and integrated systems that are essential for transforming wastewater into a vital component of a secure and circular water economy.
