The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has profoundly reshaped contemporary language education, leading to the emergence of technology-enhanced language learning (TELL) environments that extend beyond the limitations of traditional classroom settings. AI-driven tools, including intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, automated assessment and feedback applications, and conversational chatbots, are increasingly incorporated into language learning practices to support personalized instruction, foster learner autonomy, and provide timely and individualized feedback. This study explores the pedagogical opportunities and challenges associated with the integration of AI-based tools in language learning contexts. Adopting a qualitative descriptive research design, the study reviews recent scholarly literature on AI-assisted language learning with particular attention to instructional effectiveness, learner engagement, assessment practices, and teacher roles. The findings indicate that AI-based tools can enhance language learning outcomes through adaptive learning pathways, real-time corrective feedback, and increased exposure to authentic language input. However, ethical concerns related to data privacy, insufficient teacher preparedness, and unequal access to digital technologies remain significant challenges. The study concludes that pedagogically informed integration and active teacher mediation are essential for effective and responsible implementation of AI-enhanced language learning.
