In the present era, technological advances and smart technologies have paved the way for a fundamental transformation in architecture, enabling building components with increased levels of human interaction and environmental sustainability technology, achieving safety and comfort, and better control of space. The energy crisis around the world is one of the most serious problems facing humanity today, and smart architecture can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts by reducing fossil fuel consumption. This article examines energy saving and environmental protection technologies in Iranian civil engineering. Given the high energy consumption in Iran (more than three times the global average) and the significant contribution of the building sector in this consumption (about ۴۰%), paying attention to energy saving technologies in the construction industry is of particular importance. In this article, while examining the current state of energy consumption in Iranian buildings, new energy saving and environmental protection technologies are introduced and case studies of successful projects implemented in Iran are presented. The challenges and opportunities for using these technologies in Iran are also discussed and solutions for their promotion are suggested.
