چکیده مقاله:
In this study, an advanced polymer-based nanocomposite was developed by reinforcing carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and chitosan (CS) matrices with green-synthesized carbon dots (CDs). The incorporation of CDs into the biopolymer network was achieved through electrostatic interactions and lyophilization, creating a uniform and porous CMC/CS/CD structure. The presence of CDs significantly improved the physicochemical characteristics of the composite, including increased porosity, enhanced water absorption, and superior moisture interaction due to the higher surface hydrophilicity imparted by the nanoparticles. Mechanical evaluation revealed notable improvements in tensile strength, flexibility, and softness compared to the CMC/CS control sponge, indicating stronger cross-linking and better structural integrity. These enhancements demonstrate that CDs act as effective nano-reinforcers, optimizing both the mechanical performance and functional behavior of the polymer matrix. Overall, the results highlight the potential of carbon dot-reinforced CMC/CS composites as high-performance materials suitable for engineering and biomedical applications where lightweight, absorbent, and mechanically robust structures are required.
