The rapid expansion of digital infrastructures and decentralized technologies has led to the emergence of the cyber economy, a new paradigm where economic value is created and exchanged through blockchain-based systems. This study investigates the role of blockchain in shaping the cyber economy, focusing specifically on Ethereum as a representative platform. The findings reveal that Ethereum has played a pivotal role in enabling decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and smart contract-based applications, thereby contributing to the structural evolution of the cyber economy. However, the study also identifies persistent challenges such as scalability limitations, high transaction costs, and regulatory ambiguity. Ethereum's transition to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism in Y.YY significantly reduced its energy consumption, demonstrating its capacity for sustainable innovation. The research concludes that unlocking the full potential of blockchain in the cyber economy requires coordinated efforts in policy development, infrastructure investment, and educational capacity building. These insights offer practical guidance for policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers aiming to navigate and shape the future of decentralized digital economies.
