چکیده مقاله:

The impact of learners’ age on their mindset and success in learning English is an important topic in the field of language learning. Research shows that age can significantly affect learners’ learning methods, motivation, and learning outcomes. In general, children and adults have different approaches to language learning that stem from their cognitive, emotional, and social characteristics. Children usually face natural and innate motivations to learn a language. They naturally tend to learn language through play, social interactions, and new experiences. This approach allows them to be exposed to language environments informally and naturally and learn from their mistakes. In addition, children’s brains are highly flexible, allowing them to recognize language sounds and patterns more quickly and easily master new languages. In contrast, adults usually face specific challenges in language learning. They may struggle with fear of making mistakes, social expectations, and pressures to succeed. These factors can negatively impact their mindset and prevent them from learning effectively. Adults may need more structured and specific learning methods, and may focus more on grammar and vocabulary, which can slow down the learning process. In addition, learners’ prior experiences can also affect their mindset and success in learning a language. Adults who have a background in language learning tend to feel more comfortable learning a new language and can draw on their previous learning strategies. Children, on the other hand, may approach language learning with a more open mind because they have not had negative experiences in the past. In general, the age of learners has a significant impact on their mindset and success in learning English. While children excel at language learning due to their cognitive flexibility and natural motivation, adults face specific challenges that can affect their learning process. Ultimately, understanding these differences can help teachers and learners choose more effective learning methods and achieve greater success in language learning.
