چکیده مقاله:

Energy sustainability in metropolitan cities not only contributes to ensuring the energy required for economic growth and social welfare, but also plays a crucial role in mitigating environmental impacts and addressing climate change. This study aims to identify the key drivers influencing energy sustainability in metropolitan areas through cross-impact analysis. Methodologically, the research is applied in purpose and exploratory in terms of approach. The drivers were identified through literature review and analyzed using the MICMAC software to assess their mutual influence and dependence. A total of ۲۴ drivers were identified, categorized into six groups, and validated by experts. Experts rated the importance of each factor on a scale from ۰ to ۳. The expert panel consisted of scholars and practitioners with academic and operational experience in energy governance and policymaking. A purposive snowball sampling method was used, which is a non-probability sampling technique. The identified drivers include: (۱) Technological, (۲) Environmental, (۳) Economic, (۴) Social, (۵) Institutional and Policy, and (۶) Infrastructural and Physical. These dimensions provide a framework for policymakers and executive bodies to develop and implement effective strategies for urban energy sustainability. The primary objective of this research is to identify and analyze key drivers that impact energy sustainability in metropolises and offer strategic recommendations for improved energy resource management aimed at cost reduction and minimizing negative environmental impacts. Considering global trends and the urgent need for innovative energy policies, the findings can serve as a practical foundation for decision-makers to achieve sustainable urban development goals.
