چکیده مقاله:

Since ۲۰۰۵, the increased hydrocarbon exploitation activities in Qeshm Island, Southern Iran, have raised significant concerns regarding their potential impact on regional seismicity rates. This study aims to explore the correlation between intensified hydrocarbon extraction and the escalation of seismic events observed on Qeshm Island. By analyzing seismic records from ۲۰۰۵ onwards and juxtaposing them with the timeline of hydrocarbon extraction operations, this research identifies a marked rise in seismic activity coinciding with the commencement and expansion of hydrocarbon extraction. The findings suggest that drilling, fluid injection, and other extraction-related processes may induce seismicity by altering subsurface stress fields. This study underscores the importance of implementing stringent monitoring and regulatory measures to mitigate seismic risks associated with hydrocarbon exploitation in tectonically active regions.
