Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM) are primarily directed graph structures with fuzzy logic, which addresses only the causal factors of the problem. This research work introduces the Turiyam Cognitive Map (TCM) model as an advancement of FCM to investigate the interactions between the factors and their implications for the goal of the problem. The methodology of the TCM decision-making model is based on Turiyam set representations, which are characterized as the fourth dimension of cognition comprising the values of truth, uncertainty, indeterminacy, and liberalization. The effectiveness and reliability of the proposed TCM are effectively presented with a special reference to the decision-making scenario of industrial optimization. The novel TCM model developed in this work facilitates the decision makers to design optimal solutions to the industrial problem of setting up a sustainable manufacturing plant. The factors contributing to the selection, such as Operational Efficiency (OE), Technology & Automation (TA), Resource Optimization (RO), Quality & Maintenance (QM), and Demand & Supply Accuracy (DSA), are explored, and their interactions are studied using TCM. The most dynamic and influential factor is ascertained to evolve effective strategies and policies for optimal decision making. TCM models stand out as they contribute to the development of a more pragmatic decision-making model prioritizing human cognition.
