Organophosphate pesticides are extensively employed in agriculture due to their efficiency in controlling pest populations. However, their persistence in the environment and toxic effects on non-target organisms pose serious ecological and health challenges. This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of chemical degradation strategies for these compounds. The review focuses on the structural characteristics of organophosphates that influence their reactivity, highlighting hydrolysis as a key pathway for initial detoxification. Oxidation processes including photocatalysis reactions, are explored for their potential to achieve complete mineralization. By examining the efficiency, scalability, and environmental impact of these methods, this work aims to identify sustainable approaches for mitigating the adverse effects of organophosphate pesticides and enhancing chemical safety in agricultural practices.Organophosphate pesticides are extensively employed in agriculture due to their efficiency in controlling pest populations.
