چکیده مقاله:
The current study was executed with the objective of predicting adjustment to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) based on mood and anxiety symptoms, specifically investigating the mediating role of fatigue severity in this relationship. This research adopted a fundamental, correlational design. The statistical population for this investigation comprised all individuals diagnosed with MS who were members of the MS Society in Tehran. A purposeful sampling method was utilized to select a sample of ۳۸۰ participants for assessment. Data collection was performed using the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS), the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales (DASS-۲۱), and Adjustment to Multiple Sclerosis Scale (AMSS). The collected data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. The findings revealed that adjustment to MS is significantly predictable based on both mood/anxiety symptoms and fatigue severity (P < ۰.۰۱). Furthermore, the Sobel test results indicated a significant mediating role of fatigue severity in predicting adjustment to MS based on mood/anxiety symptoms (P < ۰.۰۱). Consequently, addressing mood and anxiety symptoms alongside the intensity of fatigue in MS patients is of paramount importance for enhancing their overall adjustment to the disease.
