Application of Drainage Control in Oil and HS Storage Areas For environmental protection

In order to aooomplish dJe goal of environmental protection, any leaked material ftom any area of die 1aDk must be able to flow into the spl11 containment area. Oil and Hazardous Substanceareas without secondary containment are at risk. of creating a spill that am contaminate the sunounding soil and waterways. During normal area operations, oil and HS areas will bave small spills. If the spills are notcleaned up promptly and properly, the spilled material wiD commingle with precipitation andpossibly contaminate 1be area run-off. Since not all spills will be cleaned up properly andpromptly, area stonn water must be contained and/or treated to prevent contaminated precipitation ftom reaching envil'Onment. Drainage concrol is the collection, transfer, treatment, and release of spills and precipitation.This paper provides guidance to identify Drainage control and its applications.
