چکیده مقاله:

In tbe energy and petrochemical industries. unwanted combustible gases are often disposed of by combusting them in an open flame process known as flaring. Flaring is both a concern to the public and a government priority because of the potential health risks and environmental concerns associated with the activity and also because it wastes a valuable DOIH'ellewable resource. Furthermore, tbe noise, odor, and smoke produced fi:om flaring activities can i.nterf.ere with nearbyresidents and their enjoyment of the outdoors. Different researches are in progress on t1aring. These are sponsored by some internationalorganizations aiming in reducing Oaring and its harmful effects. Iran is one of the most flare gas emitting countries in the world accordingly flare resean:hes are of great importance in Iran. Flaring problems and necessity to resolve them are first discussed in this paper. Next faringefficiency as a performance parameter is studied and important influencing factors in flare efficiency are presented. Methods to reduce flare inefficiency and some alternatives for flaring are explained then. This study shows tbat different factOrs should be considered in an efficient flare design andappropriate mitigating measures should be considered to reduce harmful effects but as the best practice flaring alternatives are put forward to eliminate any wounding consequences and get most out of waste gases.
