چکیده مقاله:

The manufacturing of composite pressure vessels using the filament winding method is very common. The use of composite materials in this process leads to an increase in strength-to-weight ratio. The importance of having a comprehensive numerical model to study composite pressure vessels for cost reduction is very high. In this work, a numerical model was presented to analyze composite overwrapped pressure vessels Type ۵, considering variable shell thickness and fiber angle. The results of this study include contour plots of strains as well as the first-ply failure pressure and burst failure pressure for the vessel. In this analysis, the first-ply failure (FPF) pressure was determined to be ۲.۵ MPa, and the burst failure (BF) pressure was found to be ۶.۶ MPa. Additionally, the maximum circumferential strain at a pressure of ۱۰ MPa was ۰.۰۰۳. Finally, for validation, some results obtained from this numerical model were compared with experimental and numerical results from previous works, and the results showed a reasonable level of agreement.
