چکیده مقاله:
Hyperthermia treatment has attracted considerable attention due to its promising therapeutic potential. The use of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for inducing thermal coagulation and vascular occlusion in the treatment of cerebral arteriovenous malformations (CAVMs) represents a novel and critical area that demands thorough investigation. One of the primary challenges in treating CAVMs with hyperthermia is the cooling effect of blood flow, which complicates the treatment's efficacy. This study employs a numerical approach to evaluate the role and impact of fluid convection under various pulsatile flow and viscosities in non-Newtonian patient-specific CAVM model. Three power levels (۱۰W, ۲۰W, and ۳۰W) at a frequency of ۳MHz is simulated. By adjusting the HIFU focal point position across two exposure times (۱ and ۱.۵ seconds), optimal conditions were identified to maximize therapeutic efficacy in terms of power, positioning, and exposure duration. The results indicate that a power of ۳۰W, with a ۰.۳۵mm focal point distance from the vessel wall and a ۱-second exposure time, is most effective in minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Moreover, a comparison between the solutions for rigid and deformable walls reveals that viscosity can alter the flow velocity by up to ۶%. This study contributes valuable insights for designing patient-specific treatment strategies.
