چکیده مقاله:

Damage or loss of dental root can turn some of the simplest tasks in life such as eating food into a challenge. In severe cases if it remains untreated, can cause more serious problems like instability in jaw bone and bone loss. Nowadays, dental implants are the preferred option to restore damaged tooth root. Currently, cylindrical or endosteal dental implants are used in dentistry but there are some problems related to this type of implants, namely the misfit between implant and the alveolar bone which functions as socket and difficulty in attaining initial and secondary stability. To overcome these problems, we designed two RAI (root analogue) dental implants with two different TPMS structures (Gyroid, Schwarz P), and compared the Von Mises stress values, as well as strain energy densities between these implants and the solid one. Considering the tunable mechanical properties in TPMS structures, we assumed porous dental implants can be a potential alternative to traditional ones. The analyses were performed in Abaqus/CAE (version ۲۰۲۱, Dassault Systemes) and the results were as follows: The solid dental implant showed the lowest Von Mises stress (۴۷۳MPa) and the one with the Gyroid TPMS structure showed the highest Von Mises stress (۷۷۰MPa). Based on these results, we concluded that the solid implant may be more suitable for high-load scenarios, while the porous implants, which have demonstrated higher strain energy densities can also be good candidates and may provide benefits like improved osseointegration.
