چکیده مقاله:

The process of gas metal arc welding is one of the widely used methods of connecting parts in various automotive industries, industrial machinery manufacturing, pressure vessels, oil and gas industries, and marine industries. This process has several advantages over other fusion welding methods, among which we can mention high strength, no slag formation and also reduction of welding defects. In this process, the correct selection of variables plays a significant role in the quality of welded joints. This research studies the two parameters of welding speed and voltage on the weld bead geometry in the process of gas metal arc welding. To check these parameters, Taguchi's experimental design has been used. For each input parameters, three levels were selected. Width and height of weld bead were also considered as output responses. The results of the experiments show that voltage changes have the greatest effect on the geometry of the weld beads. In such a way that with increasing voltage, the width of the weld bead increases and the height of the bead decreases. Also, with the increase in welding speed, the width of the weld bead decreases, but the height of the weld bead increases. The maximum width and height of weld bead in the welded samples are equal to ۱۰.۲۴ and ۴.۸۲ mm, respectively.
