Effect of peaceful parenting intervention on mothers' self-efficacy and behavioral and emotional disorders in children aged ۶ to ۱۲ years

Background & Aims: The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a peaceful parenting intervention on the self-efficacy of mothers and the behavioral and emotional disorders of children aged ۶ to ۱۲ years in Yazd city in Iran. Materials and Methods: The present study followed the protocols of a semi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and control group. The statistical population consisted of children aged ۶ to ۱۲ years with behavioral and emotional disorders who visited treatment and counseling centers in Yazd city in ۲۰۲۴. Among them, ۳۶ individuals were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups: ۱۸ individuals in the experimental group and ۱۸ in the control group. Data collection tools included the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) by Achenbach (۱۹۹۱) and the Parenting Self-Efficacy Questionnaire by Dumka (۱۹۹۶). The experimental group received an eight-session ۹۰-minute peaceful parenting intervention, one session per week. To analyze the data, a repeated measures ANOVA was performed using the SPSS ۲۷ software. Results: The repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant differences between the groups in the post-test and follow-up regarding mothers' self-efficacy and the behavioral and emotional disorders of children aged ۶ to ۱۲ years in Yazd city (p < ۰.۰۱). Conclusion: The findings indicate that the peaceful parenting intervention had a significant effect on the self-efficacy of mothers and the behavioral and emotional disorders of children aged ۶ to ۱۲ years in Yazd city.
