The Importance and Significance of Aqeqah in Islamic Law

Aqiqa is the slaughter of animal to for the thanksgiving to almighty Allah for being blessed with a child. This manner was common in the past amongst the followers of the prophet Moussa (PBUH) and was known as an admired action. Further, it was a must during the ignorance period as well. Later, aqiqa was practiced by the prophet Mohammad (PBUH).and his followers and still known as an auspicious action. This action is done in the ۷th day after the child’s birth and even is performed after that particular date as well. In this academic research paper, the library research method was used, referring to highly reputed authentic and reliable Islamic resources. This paper aims to make the Islamic nation familiar with the importance and with status of this auspicious action in Islam to practice and benefit prosperous and well deserved lives. Though the renown Islamic scholars, discussed bout the aqiqa and still question remained without the satisfying answers. To conclude, this paper revealed that, aqiqa is a virtuous action practiced amongst the Muslims and the followers of other prophets.
