چکیده مقاله:

Flow liquefaction represents a critical instability mechanism in loose sands subjected to undrained shearing, leading to rapid pore-water pressure buildup, significant reduction in shear strength, diminished soil stiffness, and substantial permanent deformations. The susceptibility of sands to flow liquefaction is typically assessed by evaluating their state relative to a unique critical state line, which is influenced by factors such as particle mineralogy and morphology. This study employs undrained triaxial compression tests across a diverse range of initial conditions to explore the flow liquefaction susceptibility of clean Shahr-e Babak sand, characterized by sub-rounded particles. The post-peak behavior and liquefaction characteristics of this sand are systematically compared with those of the well-known Firoozkuh No. ۱۶۱ sand, which consists of sub-angular particles. Experimental findings reveal that particle morphology significantly affects both the critical state line and the instability line, highlighting the role of grain shape in dictating liquefaction behavior.
