Evaluation of Sustainability Indicators in Municipal Sport Tourism Programs

Sustainability in contemporary urban planning requires a balanced consideration of economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. Municipalities, as key local development institutions, play a vital role in designing and implementing sport tourism programs. This study aims to evaluate the sustainability indicators in municipal sport tourism programs, focusing on three dimensions: economic, social, and environmental. The research follows a descriptive-analytical and applied approach. Data were collected through a researcher-designed questionnaire, expert interviews, and municipal documents. The statistical population includes experts in sports, tourism, and urban development from the municipalities of Rasht, Isfahan, and Shiraz. The findings indicate that sport tourism programs have been effective in generating employment and boosting local economic activities but require improvement in social and environmental aspects. Overall, sustainability indicators in the studied municipalities were assessed as moderate.
