The Role of Cultural Planning Management and Cultural Affairs Management in the Development of Citizen Sports and Social Sustainability in Urban Areas

In recent decades, urban sustainable development has expanded beyond environmental and economic aspects to include cultural and social dimensions. Citizen sports, as a manifestation of social participation, play a vital role in enhancing public health, social vitality, and cultural cohesion within cities. This study aims to analyze the role of cultural planning management and cultural affairs management in the development of citizen sports. The research method is descriptive-analytical with a mixed (qualitative and quantitative) approach. The statistical population consists of cultural and sports managers of municipalities, cultural affairs experts, and members of neighborhood councils. Data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire and semi-structured interviews and analyzed using content analysis and statistical tests. The results indicated that coordination between cultural planning management and cultural affairs management significantly increases citizen participation in public sports, enhances social capital, and strengthens cultural sustainability within urban environments.
