The Role of Physical Security in Enhancing Safety of Urban Sports Facilities with a Sustainable Development Approach

The growth of urban sports facilities and the widespread participation of citizens in community sports highlight the need for physical security and safety measures in these spaces. Physical security, as a critical element of risk management, plays a significant role in reducing accidents, human threats, and environmental damages. This study aims to investigate the role of physical security in enhancing the safety of urban sports facilities and its relationship with sustainable development. The research is descriptive-analytical and based on case studies of five urban sports complexes and comparative analysis of international standards for security and urban safety. Findings indicate that planning and designing security systems, employing modern surveillance and access control technologies, and training physical security personnel can reduce risks by ۳۰-۴۰% and increase citizens' perceived safety. Ultimately, physical security with a sustainable development approach plays a key role in enhancing social, environmental, and economic resilience of sports facilities.
