In Vitro Fertilization-Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET): Report of Three Cases with Cardiac Anomaly

This report presents three cases of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to conceive with a positive anomaly scan for cardiac anomalies led to a legal abortion. The first case was a ۴۰-year-old female who underwent an IVF-ET procedure, resulting in a twin pregnancy. The second case was a ۳۲-year-old female  that underwent IVF-ET. The third case was a ۳۷-year-old woman with primary infertility due to primary amenorrhea who underwent IVF-ET. Anomaly scan revealed aortic agenesia in the first case; ventricular septal defect, small pulmonary artery, and tetralogy of Fallot in the second case; and severe left ventricular and mitral valve hypoplasia, and aorta atresia in the third case. Despite the evidence that shows scans can also cause anxiety for some women, especially those who are prone to high levels of anxiety, it is necessary for pregnancies carried out using IVF-ET.
