چکیده مقاله:
Language is a multifaceted system composed of four essential skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Among these, vocabulary is fundamental to helping students understand and communicate meaning. Without a large enough vocabulary, it is difficult to advance in any language. Teachers are looking for more creative and interesting ways to improve vocabulary acquisition as teaching techniques change. Using digital tools, especially video games, which have drawn interest due to their possible educational value, is one such strategy. Researchers are always looking for novel ways to promote vocabulary development because it is an essential component of language acquisition. This study investigates how high school students perceive the role that video games play in helping them learn English vocabulary. A standardized questionnaire about their experiences playing video games and how they impact vocabulary acquisition was completed by thirty females ۱۰th graders who took part in the study. The questionnaire was based on a five-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were used to examine the data. The results showed that students' reported gaming hours and their perceptions of their vocabulary learning progress were significantly positively correlated. More time spent playing interactive, narrative-based games was associated with improved vocabulary retention among students. These findings demonstrate how entertaining video games can be as an additional vocabulary-learning aid. This association should be further investigated in various educational environments in future studies.
