چکیده مقاله:

Poets have an imaginative mind. They sometimes think figuratively and metaphorically, and as a result, their poetry is also full of literary devices. Therefore, poets generally do not use words in their usual and customary sense. Examining topics of rhetoric such as metaphor and metonymy familiarizes us with literary codes, and through this we can better understand the poet's intention and purpose. Therefore, rhetoric such as metaphor and metonymy are related to the world of meaning, and literary language is imaginative and pictorial, consisting of literary devices such as metaphor and metonymy. Among the poets who paid attention to literary devices is Amir Khosrow Dehlavi, who is a poet of the seventh and eighth centuries and among his works is 'Layli and Majnun'. Like other poets, he has used various literary devices to beautify his words, such as metaphor and Metonymy. Since there is not much research in this field, this descriptive and analytical study focuses on 'A study of the Figures of Speech of metonymy and metaphor in Layli and Majnun by Amir Khosrow Dehlavi.' The results show that Amir Khosrow Dehlavi did not use metonymy much and that metaphor is more important in his poetry than Metonymy.
