چکیده مقاله:

Over the past years, the relationship between personality traits and language learning has gained attention, particularly regarding the development of speaking skills. Among these traits, extroversion and introversion are two major personality types believed to affect students' performance in oral communication. Extroverts are typically more confident and sociable, often showing greater ease when speaking in groups or in front of an audience, while introverts tend to be more reserved and prefer interactive environments. Considering the influence of personality on language acquisition, the main goal of this study is to investigate the effect of being an extrovert or introvert on the speaking skills of English foreign language (EFL) students. To reach the objective of this research, ۳۰ female English students from Resalat Campus, Farhangian University in Zahedan, were selected. The participants' personality types were determined and their performance in two speaking courses-one focused on group discussions and the other on individual presentations-was analyzed. The students' average scores were compared using SPSS version ۲۷.۰.۱ software. The results revealed that extroverted students outperformed introverted ones in both speaking courses, especially when presenting individually. These findings highlight that personality plays an important role in speaking performance, though introverts can also improve significantly with appropriate practice and classroom support.
