چکیده مقاله:

Background: This study examined the stage of tumors and their association with microscopic grade and histological patterns in esophageal and gastric cancers in Khorramabad, with a focus on the importance of early detectionMaterials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, pathological specimens from patients with esophageal and gastric cancers who underwent surgery at Shohdai Ashair Hospital, Khorramabad, between ۲۰۰۵ and ۲۰۱۱ were analyzed. Tumor margin patterns were assessed using light microscopy, while tumor grade was determined based on the degree of cellular and tissue differentiation. Marginal histological features were evaluated by comparing the growth of cancerous cells with normal cellsResults: The findings revealed that most patients presented at advanced stages of the disease. No statistically significant correlation was observed between tumor stage and tumor grade in esophageal or gastric cancers. Similarly, no significant relationship was found between tumor stage and infiltration margin. However, a significant association was identified between tumor stage and budding margin in both esophageal and gastric cancersConclusion: The results indicate that esophageal and gastric cancers in Khorramabad are predominantly diagnosed at advanced stages, with no cases detected at intramucosal or submucosal stages. Considering the high prevalence of gastrointestinal cancers in Lorestan province and the critical role of early diagnosis, implementing screening programs and stronger preventive measures is essential for detecting these cancers at earlier stages
