The role of development or backwardness in the conditions of joining the WTO

The article titled 'The role of development or backwardness in the conditions of joining the WTO' aims to study the factors and variables affecting imports of capital goods to predict the outcome and development of the global economic organization upon joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). The study focuses on the legal and economic effects of tariffs on capital goods imports, exploring negative possibilities of joining and proposing solutions to experts in negotiating working groups seeking to join the WTO. The research examines the relationship between various factors such as 'gross domestic product', relative prices of capital goods and raw materials, interest rates, labor costs, and more on the behavior of these variables. The goal is to determine the legal and economic impacts of joining the WTO on capital goods imports, particularly the reduction of non-tariff barriers and adjustment of tariff barriers. The study employs empirical research, theoretical analysis, and the Cox and Box model to estimate the demand for imports of capital goods in Iran, using ordinary least squares (OLS) for estimation and statistical testing.
