Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in higher education, particularly in the development of adaptive learning systems that provide personalized learning experiences. These AI-powered platforms adjust instructional content and pace based on students’ individual needs, thereby fostering greater engagement, motivation, and academic achievement. This paper explores the role of AI-powered adaptive learning systems in enhancing student engagement in higher education. Drawing upon recent studies and practical applications, it highlights the benefits of personalized feedback, interactive learning environments, and data-driven recommendations. Additionally, the paper addresses challenges such as ethical concerns, data privacy, and the balance between human and artificial intelligence in learning environments. The findings suggest that while AI cannot replace human instructors, it serves as a powerful tool to support and enrich the student learning experience.
