چکیده مقاله:

Road transport stands as the most prevalent mode of transportation globally. Recent traffic studies indicate that there are currently nearly ۱ billion motor vehicles in operation around the world, with projections suggesting this number will rise to ۱.۶ billion by ۲۰۲۰ and reach ۲ billion by ۲۰۳۰. Drivers tend to decrease their speed and shift their lateral position away from the right wall of the tunnel when navigating through road tunnels. A comparative analysis of risk assessment methodologies prompts inquiries regarding the degree of harmonization within the framework. Additionally, significant challenges are identified, including the integration of contemporary trends found in the literature. There are also notable shortcomings in addressing critical aspects of the analysis, such as risk acceptance criteria and the behavior of users who feel trapped. Various elements play a crucial role in influencing the number of casualties resulting from road traffic accidents. This paper reviews aspects of traffic safety and behavior of drivers in road tunnels based on review of previous literature. The purpose of this article is to examine the various factors affecting traffic safety in road tunnels, with a special focus on the impact of tunnel specifications.
