چکیده مقاله:

Buckling restrained braces were first introduced in ۱۹۸۸ to provide more energy dissipation and higher ductility for the structures through significant plastic yielding. However, this plastic deformation can cause considerable residual drifts, leading to high repairing or replacing expenses or even the collapse of structures after strong ground motions. Various experimental and numerical investigations have been carried out to design buckling braces that not only have a lower manufacturing cost, but also are more capable to dissipate the input seismic energy. This paper provides a review of the BRB research conducted over years to overcome the residual deformation problem by proposing different restraining components.
