چکیده مقاله:
Teeth whitening products, which typically contain peroxide compounds such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, are widely used to improve the appearance of teeth. They work by breaking down stains and pigments on the surface of teeth and often provide noticeable results in the short term. However, using these products can have various effects on the health of your teeth and gums. One of the most significant side effects of whitening products is tooth sensitivity, which occurs due to the peroxide penetrating the enamel and dentin of your teeth. This sensitivity is usually temporary, but in some people it can persist for a long time and cause discomfort. Additionally, overuse or improper use of whitening products can lead to damage to the enamel, which ultimately reduces the tooth’s resistance to decay. Some strong whitening products can also cause abrasion of the tooth surface, which can lead to deformation or roughness of the tooth surface. Whitening agents can also have an effect on the gums. Direct contact of these agents with the soft tissue of the gums may cause irritation, inflammation, or chemical burns. These problems usually occur when home whitening products are used incorrectly or without the supervision of a dentist. In severe cases, gingivitis can lead to receding gum tissue and an increased risk of periodontal disease. Another possible effect of these agents is abnormal discoloration or staining of the teeth after whitening, especially when the surface of the teeth is not evenly whitened. Also, some people may be sensitive to the chemical ingredients in the bleaching agents, which is accompanied by symptoms such as pain, swelling, or itching. To reduce the risks, it is recommended that whitening agents be used under the supervision of a dentist so that the amount and duration of use can be adjusted properly. It is also very important to pay attention to your overall oral and dental health before whitening and to avoid overusing these products. Ultimately, choosing reputable, standardized products and following the instructions for use carefully can help minimize negative effects and achieve desired results.
